Pool Closure

The swimming pool in Zeniamar IV is open all year; however, if the pool is badly contaminated then it will have to be closed. This is primarily for safety reasons and to comply with Spanish law.

Contamination is usually caused by human faeces. When this occurs the pool is immediately closed and the pool maintenance contractors are contacted. The Committee members remove as much of the offending substance as possible. The pool maintenance contractors add extra chemical(s) and switch on the filtration system to operate continuously.

The pool will remain closed until the water analysis indicates that it is safe to reopen. This will vary depending on the time of year and the amount of contamination. It normally varies between 24 hours to three days.

It is important that parents/guardians of children be aware that infants MUST wear swimming nappies in the pool. If they arrive to the pool without a swimming nappy (July/August) the lifeguard will supply one until a plentiful supply is obtained for the child by the parent/guardian. Also, it is important that older children are taken back to the house/apartment if they require lavatory facilities.

It is unhygienic, unsafe and is totally unacceptable to use the pool or garden area for the purpose of a 'public convenience'. Accordingly, any person or persons found breaking this rule may be banned from using the swimming pool. It must be pointed out that the swimming pool area is covered by CCTV and recorded footage can be used as evidence in any incident of misbehaviour.
